Maybe you spent the weekend going to beach, sitting around drinking coffee, or if you’re like me, working. It’s Monday again, here are some songs to take with you. I hope you enjoy.
Happy Noose- ‘Amagosa’
This little piece of post-punk gold is Olympia-based, Happy Noose. This is the title-track from their upcoming EP, out October 1. These kids combine a goth rock with indie pop, to create a more in-your-face version of The Cure. The song is built with a wall of distorted guitars and poppy hooks. Ryan Scott’s vocals drone over the top of this fuzz, creating something that you could shoot heroin in a cemetery to. I like it.
The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die-
‘Low Light Assembly’
‘Low Light Assembly’ is a swirling piano whirlpool to peace on earth. The song, along with the video, transports you to summer camp bliss, and in the end we learn that the world is a beautiful place, and we are no longer afraid to die.
Wavves- ‘Nine is God’
Wavves’ fourth studio album, Afraid of Heights, just came out in March, but the band already has their sights set on their own radio station. You will be able to hear Wavves while driving a stolen car, punching prostitutes, and gunning down drug dealers. Don’t get too excited, it’s all apart of the highly anticipated, Grand Theft Auto 5. I’ve never been a huge fan of Wavves, I guess the California surf-stoner brand of garage rock just isn’t for me. For Wavves fans, ‘Nine is God’, which debuted Thursday on Conan, doesn’t disappoint. More important than this song, is that GTA 5 will have several radio stations hosted by Flying Lotus, OFF!’s Keith Morris, Tyler the Creator, and Twin Shadow.
