27 Days to Bonnaroo: DakhaBrakha

Day 4. This is the weirdest thing I’ve come across while finding Bonnaroo acts to cover. The music speaks for itself, but I’ll try to say something. Enjoy.

Bonnaroo Tip of the Day: Beware of anyone wearing Crocs. They cannot be trusted.

DakhaBrakha – Friday, June 13, 3:30 P.M. – That Tent

Similar Bonnaroo Sounds: Kanye West, Danny Brown, A$AP Ferg. (Seriously, nothing sounds like this)

So get this: DakhaBrakha are a Ukrainian quartet that specialize in soulful folk music, and also incorporate Indian, Arabic, African, Russian and Australian traditional instrumentation. All of this craziness blended together may seem like eating pizza with sushi, but like eating pizza with sushi, it’s surprisingly awesome. Let me reiterate for the second time, DakhaBrakha’s music is all over the place! Sometimes I’m seduced in by a beautiful female voice, and other times I’m completely dumbfounded by a man rapping at me in Ukrainian. DakhaBrakha may not be one of those Bonnaroo acts you’re dying to see, but if you have some free time, go! This madness will surely be a site to see. I MEAN, COME ON! LOOK AT THIS SHIT!
